Gathering A Healthy Meal

Be the first player to get a balanced meal—1 balanced meal = 1 FoodGroup Flag from each food group (based on Canada's 2019 Food Guide of 2 Fruits and Vegetables, 1 grain, and one protein).

One complete set of FoodGroup Flags—Use only Fruit, Vegetables, Grain, and Protein

4 Numbered Markers or Hula Hoops

-Setting Up:

Place 4 numbered markers equal distance apart.

Place flags according to their food group—For example all Fruits go in one hoop, all Vegetables go in another hoop…

All the players are distributed equally at one of the food groups.
-Instructions:

On the leader’s signal to begin, players pair up with players and play a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors (Rock (fist) smashes Scissors (two fingers in scissors shape), Scissors cuts Paper (flat hand), and Paper covers Rock).

The player that wins advances clockwise to the next Marker where the winner picks up a FoodGroup Flag if there is one.

Players continue to pair up with players at their food group and advance clockwise every time they win and pick up another FoodGroup Flag.

The first player with 2 balanced meals is the winner (1 Fruit, 1 Vegetable, 1 Protein, and 1 Grain).

If all the FoodGroup Flags are gone, determine who has the closest to 2 balanced meals.
Variations

Increasing the space between Markers increases the activity level and time it takes to complete the game; decreasing the space between Markers decreases the activity level and time it takes to complete the game.
