-Setting Up:

  • Place 4 numbered markers equal distance apart.

  • Place flags according to their food group—For example all Fruits go in one hoop, all Vegetables go in another hoop…

  • All the players are distributed equally at one of the food groups.

-Instructions:

  • On the leader’s signal to begin, players pair up with players and play a game of Rock, Paper, Scissors (Rock (fist) smashes Scissors (two fingers in scissors shape), Scissors cuts Paper (flat hand), and Paper covers Rock).

  • The player that wins advances clockwise to the next Marker where the winner picks up a FoodGroup Flag if there is one.

  • Players continue to pair up with players at their food group and advance clockwise every time they win and pick up another FoodGroup Flag.

  • The first player with 2 balanced meals is the winner (1 Fruit, 1 Vegetable, 1 Protein, and 1 Grain).

  • If all the FoodGroup Flags are gone, determine who has the closest to 2 balanced meals.

Variations

  • Increasing the space between Markers increases the activity level and time it takes to complete the game; decreasing the space between Markers decreases the activity level and time it takes to complete the game.

-Questions & Notes:

  • Was it fair or lucky how you got the different foods?

  • Did you get dejected, want to cheat, start a revolution…. to try to get to access food? What does that say about conflict in the world today? What is our role in providing solutions…..

  • What are the four food groups?
