Team Planks Caterpillar Relay

Heading 1

-Objective:

Heading 1

Be the first team to complete a certain number of repetitions of the challenge.

-Fundamental Movement Skills:

  • Locomotor

    • Run​

  • Non-Locomotor

    • Balance

-Equipment List:

  • One foam ball per team of 5-7 players.

-Equipment Link:

-Setting Up:

  • Teams of five to seven players line up behind a starting line.

  • One player holds a ball and stands on the starting line.

  • Three players go into a push up position creating a tunnel underneath them.

  • One player stands at the end of the line.

-Instructions:

  • On the signal to begin the first player rolls the ball underneath the players in a pushup position, and then goes into a push up position beside the player in front of them.

  • The person at the end retrieves the ball and runs to the start of the line, rolls the ball underneath the players doing a push up, and then goes into a push up position beside the player in front of them...

  • Continue until the first player holding the ball holds it for the fifth time. First team to do so wins.

  • Variations:

    • Once a ball rolls past a player that player does a push-up (creates a wave like pattern).

    • Rather than the player with the ball running around the team, the player with the ball leaps over each player one at a time.
