-Objective:

Heading 1

To make as many consecutive passes as possible without having the ball stolen

-Fundamental Movement Skills:

  • Locomotor

    • Run

    • Dodge

  • Manipulative Send

    • Throw

  • Manipulative Receive

    • Catch

  • Manipulative Retain

    • Dribble

-Equipment List:

  • One stability ball per game with two teams of 3-5 players each

-Equipment Link:

-Setting Up:

  • Divide a playing area into two courts (or “houses”).

  • Each team goes into its house.

  • Give one team a stability ball.

  • The team that does not have the stability ball sends two thieves into the other team’s house to try to steal the ball.

-Instructions:

  • The team that has the ball passes it around and tries to complete as many consecutive passes as possible.

  • The two thieves from the opposing team try to steal the ball and pass it to their teammates waiting in their house.

  • If the ball is stolen, the thieves return to their house and that team tries to get as many consecutive passes as possible, while the team that has just been stolen from sends two thieves over and tries to steal the ball back.

  • Thieves may not take the ball from someone who is holding the ball; they can steal the ball only once it has been thrown.

  • Players holding the ball have five seconds to pass it—otherwise, the ball is given to the other team.

  • Players holding the ball may pivot on one foot only and may not otherwise walk or run while in possession of the ball.

-Questions & Notes:

  • Tips and Variations

    • Regular Keep Away With Four Players: One player is It, and the other three players try to pass the ball to each other without the It intercepting the ball. The player holding the ball cannot walk or run with the ball. If the It intercepts the ball, the last person to throw the ball becomes the new It.
