Run the Gauntlet Without Getting Tagged

-Objective:

Heading 1

For players to succeed at running past the taggers from one end of the playing area to the other.

-Fundamental Movement Skills:

  • Locomotor

  • Dodge

  • Run

-Equipment List:

  • Poly spots or cones.

-Setting Up:

  • Using cones, stablish a starting line and endline approximately 10-20 paces apart.

  • Using cones stablish two or three other lines between the start line and the end line--these cones also mark the side lines. This line is for the taggers. Place two to three taggers between each of the cones.

  • The runners all stand behind the start line.

-Instructions:

  • On the leader's signal to begin the runners try run from the starting line to the end line without getting tagged by the taggers.

  • If successful have runners return to the start line and try again.

  • After a set time determine who has successfully crossed from one end to the other the most times.

-Questions & Notes:

  • Variation: Have runners dribble a ball while attempting to cross the playing area.

  • What strategies work best when trying not to get tagged?
