Tag the Big Ball

-Objective:

For a player to tag the big ball that is going around inside a circle of players.

-Fundamental Movement Skills:

  • Locomotor

    • Dodge

    • Run

-Equipment List:

  • One large d-lite ball

-Setting Up:

  • Players form a larger outside circle with many of the players, and form a smaller inside circle with fewer players.

  • The path between the outer and inner circle needs to be wide enough apart to pass a large ball.

  • The two circles experiment with passing the ball between the two circles around and around both ways.

-Instructions:

  • One player stands between the two circles opposite the huge ball.

  • When that player is ready, she begins to run and try to tag the ball.

  • The players in the two circles try to push the ball around the circle to make it difficult for the tagger to tag the ball.

    • What is important for the circle players to do to prevent the tagger from tagging the ball?​

      • What tactics can the tagger use to increase likelihood of tagging the ball?
