To count how many passes can be made in 1 minute

-Fundamental Movement Skills:

  • Manipulative Send

    • Throw​

  • Manipulative Receive​

    • Catch​

-Equipment List:

  • One baseball per three players

  • One glove for each player

-Setting Up:

  • Two players stand 20 paces apart, the third player stands between them.

-Instructions:

  • One of the players on the end throws the ball to the player in the middle (relay player) who then turns and relays (throws) the ball to the other player.

  • The other player returns the ball to the middle player who turns and relays the ball to the original thrower.

  • Count how many passes are made in 1 minute and then switch the order so that all players have opportunity to be the relay player.

-Questions & Notes:

  • Variation

    • Use a softer ball and no gloves.

  • As a cool-down:

    • Take the time element out of this drill and ask them to complete the drill 10 times and then switch players so that all players have an opportunity to be the relay player.
