Each player tries to stay on the court as long as possible

  • One racquet per player, and 1 bird/ball per court

-Setting Up:

  • A server and a receiver are on the court in a single’s position.

  • The remaining player(s) line-up beside the court

-Instructions:

  • Regular rules are used.

  • When a player losses a rally she goes to the back of the line of players waiting to get on, while the first player in line enters the court and prepares to receive service.

-Questions & Notes:

  • Safety considerations:

    • Make sure line of players on the side is far enough away from the court that players on the court do not hit those players with a racquet or run into them.

  • Variations:

    • Double Upset: Play as in Upset but using doubles rules with 2 players leaving and entering the court after each rally. 

    • Team Upset: Play as in Upset but each side has their own line of replacement players. Keep score as in regular badminton. If a player scores 4 points in a row this player is changes places with a replacement player.

  • As a cool-down:                                                                     

    • Works well as a cool-down activity.
