Score as many runs as possible

  • Locomotor

    • Dodge

    • Run

  • Manipulative Send

    • Throw

  • Manipulative Receive

    • Block

    • Catch

-Setting Up:

  • Use an open space (or play outdoors on soccer field).

  • Set up a home base with one of the poly spots.

  • Set up a pitcher’s poly spot about 10 paces from home base.

  • Set up an orange pylon about five bases up first base line and the purple pylon another five paces up the first base line.

  • Divide players into two teams. One team plays the field (like in baseball), and the other waits to launch their ball.

-Instructions:

  • The first launcher stands at home base with a launcher and a ball. Four other players stand behind the first launcher.

  • The launcher launches the ball into the field of play and then runs around either the orange pylon or the purple pylon and back to home base; the other four players follow. When the last player runs around home base that teams scores one run for going around the orange pylon or scores five runs for going around the purple pylon.

  • The runners can continue to try and score as many runs as possible till the ball is in the launcher of a “pitcher” who has one foot on the pitcher’s poly spot—that is when the runners top running and runs counted.

  • The fielders must retrieve the ball and launch it to their player (or launch it to players that are closer to the pitcher) standing on the pitcher’s poly spot—players may only advance the ball by launching it, not by traveling while in possession of the ball.

  • Teams switch roles after five launches.

  • Variation

    • Have each of the five runners hold a launcher and a ball, and each player simultaneously launches their ball, and the fielding team needs to retrieve all balls to the pitcher before runners stop and no more scores can be added.
