-Setting Up:

  • Divide the players into 2 teams.

  • Distribute the pinnies to distinguish the 2 teams.

  • Explain the rules.

  • Have the teams get on the field.

    • 1 team lines up behind the 30 yard-line.

    • The other team spreads out 20 to 40 yards (meters) further downfield.

    • The starting team begins by punting or throwing the ball down the field at the other team.

-Instructions:

  • Rules

    • For the opening kick/throw all teammates must be behind the ball–penalty, loss of ball at that point.

    • If a punted or thrown ball is caught by the opposition, that player may:

      • Throw the ball to a teammate

      • Run with the ball (this option can also be eliminated if you want)

      • Lateral the ball underhand

        • If the pass or lateral is complete

          • That player can throw, run with, or lateral the ball to his teammates.

        • If the pass is incomplete the ball goes back to the passer to be kicked/thrown to the other team.

        • If the ball carrier is tagged (one hand) the ball must be kicked/thrown to the other team.

          • Before a ball is kicked/thrown to the other team all his teammates must be behind the kicker/thrower.

    • Following a team scoring some points they kick/throw the ball from their 30 yard- (meter-)line to the other team.

    • If a ball that is kicked/thrown from the opposition is not caught then the receiving team must take the ball where they eventually grabbed it, have their team line up behind the kicker/thrower and kick/throw the ball towards the opposition.

-Questions & Notes:

  • Variations:

  • Indoor Ultimate Scooter Football.

    • Participants are on scooters.

    • The ball must be passed into and caught in the end zone–a line at either end of the gym.

    • Players may not travel on the scooters when in possession of the ball. The ball must be passed within 3 seconds—the ball can only be advanced by passing it to teammates.

    • If the pass is incomplete, the other team gets the ball where the ball ends up. If you have more players than you can accommodate on the floor have them stand on the sidelines where they can catch and deliver passes to teammates.

  • Use a Frisbee instead of a football and require everyone to throw the Frisbee.
